Barron Hilton’s Historic Bel Air Estate Sells for $61.5M (PHOTOS)

A historic 2.55 acre estate that served as the primary residence of W. Barron Hilton has sold for $61.5 million in Bel Air, California. The property hit the market for the first time in nearly 60 years for $75 million in December 2020. According to Forbes, the property, which has had only two owners since completion in 1936, was listed by the late W. Barron Hilton’s son and grandson, Rick and Barron N. Hilton. Designed by architect Paul R. Williams, Brooklawn is a rare and stellar interpretation of traditional English Georgian architecture. Original details by master craftsmen abound with grand entertaining rooms dressed in delicate mouldings and handsome panelling including a large, step-down living room, dining room, billiard room and den.

There is a commercial kitchen for large-scale entertaining and circular breakfast room, a Williams hallmark for intimate family dining. The upper level, reached by sweeping staircase or elevator, holds two main suites, each with dressing room, bathroom and garden view. Two additional bedrooms and an expanded suite complete the second floor. The grounds are lush with secluded gardens, peaceful reflecting pools, fountains and specimen trees as well as a pool with decorative tilework accompanied by Moderne-inspired pool house and sunken tennis court. Two motor courts and staff entrance, complete privacy behind wrought-iron gates. Brooklawn was on the market for $75 million with Barron Hilton of Hilton & Hyland.
