Situated in Mlnk, close to the confluence of the Vltava and Elbe rivers, is the Rococo Hon Château. Located in the village of Hon, it was designed at the end of the 17th century by architect G. B. Alliprandi at Count Jakub Earn’s request. It was once a hunting lodge. F. M. Schiffer and his brother Antonn painted the pieces. A riding hall and stables were built for the château in 1701.
The chateau, which combines elements of Early Rococo and Late Baroque architecture, is among the best preserved buildings.
Another owner, Frantiek Josef Inn, found the hunting lodge unsatisfactory and had a Baroque chateau designed by F. M. Kaka built in its place between 1713 and 1720.
The castle underwent numerous expansions and renovations. Asymmetrical stucco was used by Carlo Giuseppe Bossi to beautify two “Stone Rooms” located on the ground floor of the château between 1760 and 1763. The most recent structural alterations were performed toward the close of the 18th century when an inner stairway was rebuilt and a little tympanum was built on the garden front.
