Zoo in northern Mexico welcomes tiger triplets
A zoo in northern Mexico has welcomed tiger triplets.
The zoo unveiled the three rare white Bengal tiger cubs Thursday.
The cute cubs — two boys and a girl — were born a month ago.
The general director of the zoo said the birth of the triplets was an important contribution to the park’s collection, which also helps saving the animals from extinction.
White tigers are a genetic variation of the better-known orange Bengal tigers.
Between 5,000 to 7,000 tigers live in the wild — down from 100,000 at the start of the 20th century.
Poaching, deforestation and over-hunting of their natural prey have impacted their numbers.
