1890 Catherine O’Leary Mansion Drops to $473K in Chicago, Illinois

   


Built in 1890 by infamous gambling boss James O’Leary, the Catherine O’Leary Mansion has dropped to $473,000 in Chicago, Illinois. According to listing details, James O’Leary had this mansion built for his mother, Catherine, whose cow allegedly started the Great Chicago Fire of 1871. The fire killed 300 people, destroyed 3.3 square miles of the city, and left more than 100,000 residents homeless. Showcasing 6,270 square feet of living space, the mansion is comprised of four levels that all offer high ceilings, including the basement. You’ll also find original woodwork, mouldings, extra-large rooms, two walk-in vaults, and a two-story coach house on the property. The Catherine O’Leary Mansion is on the market for $473,000 with Jose Villasenor of Realty of Chicago.
