Idaho Cabin With Frank Lloyd Wright Tie Lands

A two-bedroom, one-bath log cabin in Blaine County, ID, is selling for the eyebrow-raising sum of $2.7 million.

One reason for the high price tag on 360 Broadford Road? Perhaps it’s the home’s famous affiliation: The cabin was built in 1996 by Jay  C. Pace, an apprentice to Frank Lloyd Wright. Pace built the place for his son, an architectural metal sculptor, the listing notes.

“This property closely followed the organic architecture philosophy—right down to the materials used to the shapes of the windows and doors,” says listing agent Rob Cronin. “No nails were used in the building of the structure—only bolts.”

The organic architecture movement was coined by Wright himself and embodied an aesthetically pleasing, back-to-basics approach that prioritized organic structures integrated into natural environments. So this cabin built in Swedish notch technique, surrounded by pines and aspens, almost certainly fits the bill.

Inside the home, recent luxurious upgrades and details make for a more sophisticated living experience than the simple construction might suggest.

“In 2023, the bathroom was remodeled to include Portuguese limestone, Italian quartz, and Restoration Hardware fixtures,” Cronin says. “The kitchen was also fully remodeled with all-new appliances and Italian quartz countertops.”

Other modern features include radiant-heated floors; cozy, wool carpeting; custom, bronze hardware; and a 380-year-old, live-edge, tree-slab bar.

But a chance to live in this fully remodeled, Wright-inspired cabin isn’t the only perk of the 1.3-acre property. In addition to the main cabin, there’s also an 800-square-foot studio space that comes with a baby grand piano, which is included in the sale.

The wooded surroundings are also one of the lot’s many perks.

“The property has expansive, park-like grounds with mature trees and unobstructed views of Penobscot Mountain,” Cronin says.

Plus, cherry, apple, apricot, plum, and pear trees create a forested, fairy-tale ambiance—as do the many metal sculptures created by the original owner.

This dreamy cabin’s location is particularly ideal for the active outdoor enthusiast.

“The property is walking distance to world-renowned fly fishing on the Bigwood River,” Cronin notes. “It’s just 30 minutes to Silver Creek for another fly-fishing experience and 20 minutes to Sun Valley Ski Resort.”
